On July 26th, 2013, Ariel Castro entered a guilty plea relative to his abduction and decade long rape of three young girls held prisoner in his home. By doing this he was able to avoid a likely death sentence. While in prison he learned that his home had been demolished so that it would not be a grim reminder of the monster who had lived there. On Sept. 3, 2013, Ariel Castro hung himself with a bed sheet in his cell, unable to face his life sentence plus 1000 years and all of the dreary existence and threats to himself from the other inmates. What he had legally avoided was what he had personally decided upon — death for his horrible crimes.
Note: In these Moon-to-Sun Return charts, transits are shown within the inner chart, natal planets are shown within the outer chart. This August 31, 2013 Moon-to-Sun Return was aligned along the vertical axis, spanning the IC angle. The t/Moon-to-n/Sun pattern represents how we seek to balance our life’s situation. The t/Moon represents the external influences that intrude into our life, the n/Sun represents are established and ongoing self-interests. Together these two astrological bodies show how we seek to manage life’s changes. Ariel Castro’s time in prison over the several weeks since his “guilty” plea removed a trial experience and placed him directly in prison had shown him the “life” that he had chosen over the experience of being put to death. Apparently he changed his mind and decided after all to choose death.
t/Moon to n/Sun at the IC angle points to a decision point, a choice, and end of one thing and the start of another thing. Moon-Sun broadly opposes n/Saturn in the 9th; Castro was facing constraints. The ninth house has many associations: dreams, far away places, expansion of consciousness, journeys, one’s next life, one’s reputation as a loser — all of these taken from Rex Bills’ “The Rulership Book.” Now, note t/Saturn at the Desc. angle, conjoining n/Neptune: This double-up of Saturn pattern now brings in Saturn at the historical death angle, coupled with Neptune. Reality is being dissolved. The doubling up of Saturn provides a primary interpretation focus; hard times and constraints weigh heavily on Ariel Castro.
t/Part of Fortune opposes t/Mercury from near the cusp of the 12th, but still in the 11th house of the future. Should we read this literally? “Chance and change” is in his future.
September 3, 2013 is the date Castro “chickened out” and took his own life rather than face the miserable existence that lay before him. From my experience, my eye was drawn to the presence of n/Venus at the IC and t/Venus opposed the t/PoF. Venus at an angle is a very common factor in the case of death within cyclic charts. Venus represents a “balancing” factor where an attempt is made to bring life to an acceptable conclusion. The Advanced chart’s Asc. conjoins the n/PoF: this is also a doubling up of the Part of Fortune, extreme upheaval is likely. t/Saturn & n/Neptune remain at the Desc. angle, the applying square by t/Mars is activating the push to wash away (Neptune) reality (Saturn). t/Neptune opposes n/Pluto — do we really need to add more heavy planet factors — oppositions can provide a choice of this or that. Neptune is escape, Pluto is unrelenting pressure and upheaval. Escape it is.
For Ariel Castro, life has been concluded. For the young girls now free from his prison, life is just starting over. We all hope that life for them from this time forward is full of harmony and joy and that the prior bitter experiences quickly fade. Dave
These charts of celebrities and public figures often show extreme situations which we have to take into account as we distort the more common “daily life” interpretations to fit the nature of events.
