On the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015 I awoke and realized that something was wrong with my eyesight. For a few days it had seen swirls, threads in my left eye, the result of a lens replacement and a “floater” that would break-up and disappear in time. Holding my hand over the other eye, I saw a “black curtain” covering half of my field of view. Knowing what that implied, I called the Veterans Administration hospital in Boston, MA. I was connected with a surgeon upon explaining my problem and told to come in immediately. An examination and then an appointment for that Friday for an operation was made. Quick work on the part of the VA. I will present a few charts for this event, including what I call a “double diurnal” chart.
Here is an Advanced chart for the day I realized I had a problem. Note the n/MC at the MC, the n/Asc. at the Asc. Whenever the angles of a chart realign, it indicates a life-changing moment. This is a big deal for the person. As one who practices Astrology, writes, does wood carving and graphics, the possibility of losing eyesight is troubling. Could a detatched retina be repaired. My thoughts went back in time to a decade ago when an older friend lost his sight due to the deterioration of his retina, leaving him largely without sight. Note also, t/Neptune at t/MC-n/MC square t/Saturn in the 6th. This can relate to a lack of clarity about one’s future and how it might affect ones work and career (n/Saturn in the 10th). Note t/Part of Fortune at the IC, approaching n/Neptune. Changes will occur in how one views this situation. Doubled-up Neptunes emphasize the uncertainty I was feeling and the changes that might occur. (For those who wish to calculate these charts for themselves, the original t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return occured on Nov. 6th, 2015 at 6:23:57 PM. The natal data is given in the chart above.) A t/Moon-opposite-n/Sun Return,9th to 3rd houses, on Nov. 20, 2015, the date of the operation. This chart is shown below.
This chart has little angularity. I have always said that events that are big in a persons life are mirrored by charts that have angular planets. Here, it appears that the natal angles are activated by transiting planets. The chart’s daily angles seem empty. We have already noted t/Neptune at the n/MC, n/N.Node at the Desc. We see n/Moon at the IC, squared by t/Mercury-t/PoF-t/Saturn. Is this enough to make an interpretation? Here, because of my presence in this situation, we can adjust the angles of the chart from the given time of 9h 14m 01s to the actual time of the operation on this date, Nov. 20th, 2015. This chart manipulation is what i call a Double Diurnal chart. Advanced charts are diurnally advanced by the rate of the Sun’s daily motion. We can further adjust those charts, using the chart time, to advance or move back the chart time to an event’s actual time. In this case, I was taken into the operating room at 12:05 PM. By subtracting 9H and 9M fro the chart time, we end up with a time of 12h 05m.
Now, we find t/Saturn-MC at 6 Sag opp. t/PoF and n/PoF, square t/Neptune-n/MC in the 1st and square n/Moon in the 7th. Normally, two Part of Fortunes indicates chaos but the t/Saturn seems to bring that into perspective as a structured change. Neptune could represent sedatives or a lack of clarity —- both would be appropriate. The n/Moon is the left-eye of a male, correct in this case. n/Mars is on the Desc., the surgeon or surgery. I have to note that the Advance chart without angularity does surprise me. Perhaps, this being elective surgery, angularity is not as important. That’s not what charting has led me to expect. While the Double-Diurnal chart does reflect the event, it seems almost too much work to make this all work. Perhaps the readers have some ideas about this. Dave. Note, the eye is slowly improving each day. The ultimate result will have to be awaited.
