My Untimely Death Is Still In The Future

HH Photo-1

It was all over the Internet, so it had to be true:  Playboy Hugh Hefner had died!  Except that he hadn’t.  This was just the latest of such rumors, not only for Hefner, but for many others.  Someone loves to see the ‘fake’ news that our President keeps talking about.

Upon hearing of his passing I immediately started casting some charts.  Natal charts for Chicago where he was born, for New York city where he published his first Playboy magazine featuring a nude Marilyn Monroe, then Los Angeles where he was most often found hanging out.  I will post a chart, an advanced chart for July 15th, 2017, his falsely reported death date.  What is interesting that it has some appropriate and serious patterns that could relate to his passing.  Let’s look at this ‘much-ado-about-nothing’ chart.

HHAdv7-15-2017died

Interesting is n/Asc. at the MC and n/MC at the Desc.  First, n/Asc. at the MC is often seen as speaking on behalf of an institution, corporation or for another person.  Promotion.  This would seem to relate to the originator of the rumor.  Second, n/MC at the Desc. suggests placing your reputation or image in the hands of another.  Finding an agent to represent you  Again, this seems to relate to the originator of the rumor.

Then, there is the classic ‘death indicator’ for cyclic charts such as Solar Returns, Lunar Returns, Moon-to-Sun Returns and any of their derived advanced daily charts.   This would be n/Venus-at-the-IC-angle.  Venus is often associated with death when found at this angle — although it is also associated with the start of a love affair as well.  Venus represents balance and harmony.  This is a pleasing result for the living who fall in love, and is true for those who pass on into a better place for them.

We could consider other supportive patterns if we wished.  How about t/PoF-opp-n/Mars in the 3rd; hurting words cause upset.  Or t/Sun-conj-n/PoF; one’s self interests are subject to being upset.  N/Saturn-Asc.-opp-n/MC; difficulty in acting on one’s own behalf due to others speaking for you.

So, it is fortunate that I hadn’t spent more time on these charts, nor had I rushed to post a new blog.  It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve embarrassed myself, but I do like to avoid such events as much as possible.  So, who else among my followers have put themselves into a embarrassing situation?  We can do chart and a write up but keep your name out of it if you would like to share.  Dave.

  1. So isn’t this another indicator of the fact that almost anything can be seen in any chart? Most of astrology as practised currently seems to involve fitting an event that already occurred (or is said to have occurred as in this example) onto a chart.

“Astrologers” then find ‘indicators’ in the chart that “confirm” the event (irrespective of whether it actually occurred). What is the use of all this activity? It seems like ‘astrologers’ only discover patterns in charts that are not reflective of reality.

Surely astrology should be sophisticated enough to recognize that a particular chart does not actually reflect the event if the event is ‘fake news’? If not, how is it useful?

Astrology should predict events before they occur (so we can verify the validity or otherwise of the astrological method).

e.g: From Donald Trump’s natal chart, can anyone predict if he will be impeached? If so, when? In the absence of prediction, what will probably happen is that ‘astrologers’ will wait till such an impeachment takes place, then discover all kinds of ‘patterns’ in the chart for that moment, irrespective of when it occurs, and claim that astrology actually works!

    • Let us take some of this chart’s individual factors one at a time. n/Asc. at the MC indicates that one will experience “talking about one’s personal status.” Well, someone was talking about his personal status — first the person behind the falsehood, second Hefner having to contradict the story. Then we have a similar situation with n/MC at the Desc. where”one’s reputation (MC) is in the hands of another.” Again, someone promoting a falsehood that had to be corrected. *** What is more interesting to me is n/Venus at the IC. I have seen many instances of this in daily death charts as well as being an indicator of the start of a love affair or launch of a venture that represented a great personal fulfillment. “Timing” is the greatest strength of astrology, “interpretation” is very dependent upon CONTEXT. In astrology we see a lot of examples of synchronicity — multiple related things happening at the same time that seem to have no direct connection. Why would someone make this type of false statement at this time, this date? Hefner is old, not overly healthy. This could be a time of passing for him, one he chose not to take advantage of. Someone was in sync with him on this. This does represent a false report of his passing. Again, it is the context of his life. The symbols ‘represent’ but they do not ‘dictate.’ *** The t/Part of Fortune opposite n/Mars is indicative of chaos caused by an attack or ‘hurting words.’ **** The astrological chart represents the situation that is experienced. This has to be kept within the context of the subject’s current life. If we know the person and what he is doing and experiencing in this period, then we can ‘forecast.’ We probably can’t ‘predict.’ There is a difference. The t/Moon-n/Sun Return charts and diurnally Advanced daily charts track the ‘flow of life.’ We can often see where that flow is headed if we know of the person’s lifestyle and current intent. *** As Donna Van Toen said in her review of my book, this form of astrology charting is perhaps the best short term forecasting tool available. I say that it is what we can make of it. I try not to take it beyond its limits in most cases. If you check the soon-to-be-posted coverage of Donald Trump Jr’s meetings with the Russians you will see me exploring new ground in chart usage. Check out Part 2 when it is posted later this week. • Rohan, thank you for your comments. Just what an astrology chart can mean seems to depend upon knowing the context of the chart-owners life and intentions. Because of ‘polarity’ and the broadness of astrological symbols, the skillful use of astrology depends upon looking at the big-picture, then the details, then the inconsistencies. All of this paints a picture. While a generic statement can be made, it is actually useful unless it can be fit to the context of a person’s life. Then the meaning of the natal symbols can be seen as having been modified by an adult’s life-long experiences. It is not an easy process for those who are new or recent to astrology, and not for hobby-astrologers either (although it is the only way they can learn).
