A Foregone Conclusion Happens!

Today, January 31, 2020, the U.S. Senate voted to not allow any witnesses or documentation in the Impeachment Trial of President Donald Trump.  The vote was close, one more Senator’s vote would have meant a tie vote, but it was not to be.  But, the story is not quite that simple.

The newspapers carried quotes from former National Security Advisor, John Bolt, saying that Trump, himself, the President’s lawyer who is currently defending him in the Senate hearings, and others all were present when Trump asked Bolton to get Ukraine to go along with an investigation of Joe Biden and his son — an investigation based on false claims and no facts.  In spite of the lawyer’s involvement in the cover up, he continued to participate in the trial addressing the actions in which he was a part of.  This was most astounding.

Later in the day, former Chief of Staff, John Kelly, (who had left the office because of Trump’s policies and actions which he found so distateful) weighed in with a second comment supporting John Bolton.  These people were stalwart Republicans who carry a lot of political influence.  As if that were not enough news-bombshells in one day, the lawyer for indicted Lev Parnas (one of the operatives on the ground in Ukraine seeking to oust the U.S. Ambassador and to promote the false investigation into Trump’s political rival Joe Biden) released information about having records and documentation about Trump’s involvement.

The Republicans, having a slim voting majority, could not allow witnesses and further documentation to be introduced.  They needed to end this tragedy as soon as was possible.  So, they held a vote to have no witnesses and documents allowed in this trial.  The price they will pay in the November national elections will likely be horrendous.  The diurnally Advanced t/Moon-to-n/Jupiter Return chart is shown below.

t/Sun and t/Mercury bracket the Descendant angle; the Sun represents authority of another, Mercury is likely the words of that authority.  Majority Speaker McConnell is likely the best representation of this pair in this chart.  He was acting as Trump’s protector and manager of the Republican Party in the Senate.  Those who like to include the four major asteroids will note Ceres at the Descendant; the ‘parent’ that oversees the family and various crises points.  We might see Ceres as the (Trump) figure directing Speaker McConnell to kill the Senate proceedings so that Trump can finally get clear of some of the troubles plaguing him in this election year.

Note the t/Part of Fortune at the IC angle.  This was a chaotic day as the news and resulting political maneuvering continued all day.  Note the n/PoF in the 7th.  When two PoFs are angular, “chaos” is the keyword of the day.  Today was definitely a “Two Part-of-Fortune” day.  The MC has moved past t/Uranus, apparently this upsetting planet is still effective from four degrees away from the MC angle.

Now, the trial itself is not ‘technically’ over.  A vote to acquit the President will come next week, just as the election season kicks of with the Iowa political caucus being held on Monday and the New Hampshire vote coming a week later.  Trump will be touting his innocence after being acquitted in spite of all the evidence that has come to light showing his guilt.  The biggest concern now is the damage that has been done to the cause of democracy and rule-of-law in the nation.  But, that subject requires differing charts and approaches using astrology.

I thought that this event-sequence would be a great opportunity to introduce a new Return-cyclic charting approach.  There could still be further development when the Senate resumes the ending portions of the trial next Monday.  Dave.

The Impeachment Indictments Begin

On January 22, the House Impeachment Managers started to present evidence leading to a later indictment of Donald Trump by the House of Representatives.  The Intelligence Committee, headed by Alan Schiff, began the presentation, offering a detailed timeline and highly specific details.  As the days followed one another, the whole story emerged.  We will be examining a diurnally Advanced chart for Jan. 22, 2020, derived from a t/Moon-to-n/Jupiter chart cast for Jan. 16, 2020 — the day that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was sworn in and formal Impeachment trial began in the U.S. Senate.  The Advanced chart for Jan. 22nd is shown below.

These comments will be placed into the context of Donald Trump having to endure a public trial, a potential blow to his ego and grasp on power. 

1)  n/Pluto-Asc.; Trump’s sense of power, his or others, is forefront in his thoughts and daily actions.  This reflects the current t/Saturn-t/Pluto conjunction, or the start of a long cycle, that signifies upheaval of established norms.  t/Saturn-n/Pluto is in the 6th house, opposite n/Saturn-n/Venus in the 12th house.  Therefore we are considering linkages between the Ascendant, n/Pluto, t/Pluto-t/Saturn, and n/Saturn. This is heavy-stuff.  Trump is personally involved and very concerned about a high-impact level upheaval or restrictive process affecting his Presidency, image and ego.

2)  t/Sun-t/Mercury at 2-and-10 degrees Aquarius brackets the Desc. angle.  This pair, transiting, represents the will and arguments of others impacting himself, Trump.  We need to look at their natal counterparts.  n/Mercury conjoins t/N.Node-12th house.  Associates or ‘others’ (N.Node) have questions and interest (Mercury) in undisclosed matters (12th house).  n/Sun-n/N.Node-n/Uranus-11th, as a group, oppose t/Mars-n/Moon.  Pressure or attacks (t/Mars) affect directly Trump (n/Sun).  This oppositional pattern squares t/Neptune.  The nature of these attacks and attempts (Mars) to define Trumps role (Sun) is subject to lies and a lack of clarity (Neptune).

3)  Let us look at t/Uranus.  ‘Uranus’ was part of the patterns noted in point 2.  I have treated this separately because t/Uranus is angular at the MC angle.  Trumps image and life direction (MC) is subject to surprises and upsets.  t/Uranus-MC squares t/Sun!  The questions and impact of the House managers upon Trump’s expectations was surprising — it is as if he couldn’t have anticipated his sensitivity to being closely questioned.  

These patterns fit the day’s events closely.  As noted in the previous post, t/Moon is our tool for defining daily changes and developments that affect Donald Trump.  His n/Jupiter defines his relationship to the courts, to the constitution, to the government itself.  We are looking thru Trump’s eyes and ego at the developing revelations and accusations.  We will be posting more on this subject in a couple of days time.

Impeachment; Trump & Astrology

Impeachment is in the air, at least in the United States.  Astrologers often have a problem when using the chart of President Donald Trump.  He had published a ‘birth cirtificate’ a few years ago, but not with the same time as he had previously used with a family astrologer.  Accordingly, I use the older-earlier time of 9:51 AM, relocated to Washington, D.C.

In this special posting, interupting the Shirley MacLaine series on her Camino pilgrimage, I will be take a look at the impeachment process that is currently going  on in the U.S. capitol Senate.  The charts used will be a transiting Moon to Trump’s natal Jupiter.  The Moon represents change, the public, empathy and support, fears.  Jupiter represents the courts, the Constitution, excess and social opportunities and expansion.  I have brought these two symbols together to provide a charting basis for examining how President Trump is relating to his impeachment process.

Trumps latest t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return occurred on January 15, 2020, the exact day Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court John Roberts was sworn in to oversee the Impeachment trial of the President.  This, in itself, auspicious.

In this t/Moon-to-n/Jupiter Return chart we find this pair in the 3rd house at 18 degrees of Libra, just behind the IC angle.  If we chose to blend the meaning of the 3rd and 4th houses, we might say ‘a meeting is about to start.’  Note that precession corrected charts, according to software programming protocols, shows the natal position for the anchor planet (the Sun in this case) and the corrected position for the moving-transiting planet (the Moon in this case).  t/Jupiter is broadly square n/Jupiter, t/Moon is sextile n/Moon.  With a square and a sextile aspect involved, we might say that a struggle is going on relative to how the trial is conducted and then explained to the public.  The t/Part-of-Fortune (t/PoF) is in 150 degree aspect to n/Jupiter; success and social conection will be difficult to achieve.  Both the natal and transiting PoFs are in sextile; we can take it that all sides of the argument will have both success and failure in reaching a broad understanding.  In other words, what ever develops as strong arguments will be screened out by partisan ears.

t/Mercury-t/Venus are at the Desc. angle; all public presentations will be smooth and well executed, seeking to make a good impression.  Trump’s n/Venus-matches up with n/Saturn; what we call a ‘tough love’ or abrasive personality.  t/Venus and t/Saturn (the impeachment process) are in a 40 degree aspect or 1/9th harmonic.  This indicates a deep interest in seeking and providing solutions or to cover over inadequacies.  Normally, this 9th harmonic of Venus-Saturn would be more positive in its nature but the natal blend of Venus-Saturn and a life-time expression shows that Trump has distorted the pairing to a more negative expression.

Let us look at t/Mercury-Desc. all by itself.  This is a ‘reaching out to connect’ form of connection.  Both sides in the impeachment trial are reaching out; the Senate to the President so as to stay on his good side, the Democrats are trying to influence the fall election so as to take control of the Senate and the Presidency.  Looking at n/Mercury, we can see it squares n/Neptune; the President is known for his lies and bald-faced misrepresentations.  He is an extreme and bad case of Mercury-square-Neptune.  The national Press has counted over 16,000 lies and untruths told by Trump in these first three years of his Presidency.  Unbelievable.  

I will be posting more on this Impeachment Trial before returning the the pilgrimage of Shirley MacLaine.  This was such a great opportunity to introduce my readers into the flexibility and application of t/Moon-to-n/Planet Returns.  Dave.

 

Part 10:

At this point I will move ahead to June 16th, 1994.  Prior to this, Shirley’s book covered her meeting of new friends-along-the-way, and local observations.  She sometimes saw or heard of the Irish girls, but they were often ahead of her by a day or two.  On the 16h, Shirley was approaching Fonce-Badon.  Her friends Ali, Carlos and the Irish girls were not with her at this point.  Many of the towns she mentions on her journey are difficult to find on the map.  Apparently some are very small villages with ‘local’ names and are commonly identified as part of a bigger nearby community.  On this day she also mentions San Juan de Ortego.  The diurnally advanced chart for this date is shown below.

The most-angular planets in this chart are t/Mars-n/Sun-Desc. and n/Saturn-n/N.Node at the IC.  t/N.Node and t/Pluto are in the first house, and t/Chiron-n/Moon in the 10th.  t/Sun squares t/Moon from the 8th to the 11th house, and the t/PoF is behind the IC in the 3rd.  Nothing overwhelming here, yet Shirley’s story has some interesting points.  I’ll try to match them up.

As in prior accounts, Shirley again has a dream about John the Scot, one who is a valid-if-little-known historical figure.  She again experiences herself as the Moorish girl.  John the Scot noted that many of those she saw then were again, today, playing different roles among the priests and inn-keepers she saw along the trail.  Her friend Ali had been rescued by John the Scot and sent to the care of Carlos, who inthat time, made her his ward.  John pointed out that by now  Shirley should have noted a ‘theme’ in her past and current life: “It is of lovers who have not loved deeply enough because of prejudices.  He mentioned the present-day Swedish PM Palme.  We can look at the chart for some astrological connections to this theme.

We can start with the Moon’s Nodes which are near the chart’s angles.  The Nodes represent our contact with others and what we can learn from them to help us in our life and to help them in theirs.  The South Nodes represent what we have already gained from others or have developed in prior lives.  This knowledge and skills are what we rely upon when we are self-absorbed and do not reach out to others to obtain. 

t/Mars-Desc. is near the t/S.Node.  This can indicate that Shirley is presently taking on her challenges by herself (t/S.Node-Desc.) while also reaching out (t/Mars-Desc.).  This sort of like having ones cake while also eating it.  We can see this as a transition point.  The natal nodal axis is behind the angles, 3rd-9th houses.  We might say that Shirley is learning about past relationships and how she managed them.  With the t/PoF crossing the n/N.Node on this same day, we can say that that knowledge will change her attitude and give her food-for-thought.

Shirley went on to San Juan de Ortego where she found the press waiting to meet her.  They had been absent on the trail and decided that she had to show up sooner or later…two hundred of them, she recounted.  The local priest had promised them an interview with Shirley in return for a donation to his church.  Her friend Carlos was there and he berated the priest and the journalists.  They fled through the Church and out a rear day, avoiding more contact with the press.

The press can be represented by the 3rd house and by Mercury.  We can take note of t/PoF-3rd square n/PoF-t/Jupiter-12th.  We can note t/Mercury-n/Asc. (relocated to Spain) and n/Mercury opposite n/Jupiter-11th.  So, let’s take this piece by piece as we try to find context for these many small events in Shirley’s life on this date.  1) The two PoF’s square to each other indicate (in mutable houses) a squabble or conflict.  2)  The two (natal and transiting) N.Nodes squaring each other also point to conflict or competing aims in how one interacts with others.    3)  When noting the two PoFs linked to t/Jupiter-12th and n/Mercury-opposite-n/Jupiter, we can again sense upsets of a larger nature going on.  With one Jupiter in Libra and the other in Scorpio, we get the sense that fairness (Libra) and the protection of secrecy or privacy (scorpio) is involved.  Now, again, without the context of knowing what Shirely was facing externally and discovering internally, I would not likely voice these words and views.  I’m not that good.  But, I would likely note that there would be upsets in how she related to and communicated with others.  With the two Saturns in the 4th house, it is obvious that she would not open up to others.

Earlier, while passing through Burgos, she was given a gift; a stout staff with a ring of silver at each end.  This would be better for helping her walk along the Camino trail.  She gave her former, and less sturdy, staff to a priest who promptly threw it away.  Gifts can be represented by Mercury or by Jupiter-Venus.  Where the staff was a sturdy wooden staff, perhaps Saturn can be involved.  t/Saturn-MC can indicate support (Saturn) for walking upright (n/MC).  n/Saturn-opp-MC mirrors this pattern.  Since an exchange was involved, we might look at the square between t/PoF and n/PoF from the 3rd house of walking-travel and the 12th house of solitude.  Hey, we are learning to link keywords with symbols here.

I am going to be looking ahead for more impacting events that have some substance to them.  Shirley’s writing seems not to be overly sequential, and as I noted, the link between what she recounts and the actual date of an event is not easy to determine.   Dave.

A Note Before Part 10

For those waiting for Part 10, know that I wrestling with two issues.  First, Shirley’s book, The Camino, does not always contain dates relating to each day of her pilgrimage.  Between June 9th and June 17 there are no dates given, just a narrative of what she did on different days.  So, I am now working out the clues of each day — did she skip a day, combine two days into one telling or linked experience.  Second, she had a dream-sequence where she received a “cross-like” piece that looked as if it was Christian-Moorish-Jewish in nature.  It’s blended design would imply to any who stopped her on the Camino trail that she was associated with the other’s faith, thereby protecting her.  This past-life relic from almost a thousand years earlier would — according to her story — be found on the Camino trail by her.  If so, this would be a powerful proof of her dreams and past lives.  I have not been able to find a photo of this Cross-like device, in her book or on the Internet or on any of her facebook pages.  I have asked about it but have not yet heard anything.  It seems to me that this would be a most-important thing to offer the public.  So, these two things are holding up my postings.  Dave.

Part 9, continued

We are still considering Shirley MacLaine’s experiences of June 9, 1994 on the Camino trail in Spain.  I will again post her diurnally advanced chart for this date.

While walking along the Camino trail, Shirley became lost in her thoughts.  We can  see this as actually being in a light trance where her walking became automatic and her thoughts and senses were all focused within her.  In this inner realm, she was trying to elude soldiers who were fighting each other.  She saw a camp fire and ran to that light.  There were soldiers there but a monk came out of a tent and invited her to join him.  We can see the influence of armed men in the natal and transiting Mars at the Descendant area of the chart.  This man was John the Scot, an actual historical figure even though little is known of him.  She was aware that she was speaking Hebrew, although in this real life she knows nothing of that language.

Their conversation touched on the movement of the stars, John’s teaching efforts for Charlemagne (who was unable to read), and the presentation of a Druid staff to Shirley.  Two other monks entered, but they had the faces of the two Irish girls who were on the Camino trail with Shirley.  t/Mercury-Desc. square n/Mercury-9th; some difficulty relating to perception, as well as talking and interchange of ideas.   Talk then focused on the battle between another historical figure, the knight Roland, who was fighting a giant Moor.  The battle continue from one day to the next before Roland finally managed to kill the Moor.  Linkages between the Moor and Shirley’s own present-day Office Manager became known to her.  

As we explore this unfolding of scenes from the past within Shirley, I feel we need to keep in mind n/PoF and t/PoF at the chart’s Ascendant.  In ‘typical’ charts, the presence of these two PoF symbols at an Ascendant indicates personal danger and chaos.  Here, however, these two PoFs are in aspect to n/Mercury and t/Mercury and involve the Asc. and Desc. angles, as well as the 9th house.  Her whole perception and understanding is being challenged and opened up to a bewildering and larger sense of comprehension  and intermixing of “time.”  t/Saturn-4th conjoins n/MC, with n/Saturn behind (in the past) the MC.  Does this astrologically indicate that ‘time’ is involved.  It seems to be, although a blind reading of this chart would not cause that thought to be part of my assessment.  Reading the intermixing of time travel-experiences is as new to me as it may be to the reader.  Shirley herself noted that she was becoming confused about “time” in her dream (page 86).

Now comes a key point in this whole Camino story!  John the Scot gives Shirley an a gold cross of a curious design.  It will be taken as being associated with the faith of anyone she encounters — appearing of Christian origin to Christians, Moorish to Moors, etc.  She was to keep and wear this as it would protect her as she roamed the Camino area and helped to heal those who needed healing.  The Moon’s nodal axis is one indicator of connection between what we have to offer others and what we can learn or take from others.  Here, in this chart, the natal and transiting Nodal axis square each other from angular houses.  Is this relevant?  

Shirley, in this ancient life, met Charlemagne.  John told her that she knew him also in her present life.  Shirley did not know who that was.  John told her she would know when she accomplished more of her journey and learning.  At his point she had a lot to think about.  She awoke from her day dreaming and continued to her nightly refuge spot in the next town.

This is new ground for me, looking at a current-day chart to view the inner mind-set of a dreamer exploring a past-life situation.  I would like to hear any comments from readers on how this strikes their astrological skills and interests.  Dave.

Part 9: Shirley Visits A Past Life Scene

Los Arcos, Spain was Shirley’s destination as she started out on her June 9, 1994 daily trek along the Camino trail.  This would be a day when she encountered or re-lived portions of a past life on this very Camino trail.  As in Post 8, we will explore how these daily charts reflect her mind’s inner journey.  Up until now, I had been more focused on the chart’s portrayal of daily life in terms of events, actions, changes and adjustments in life’s day-by-day affairs.

So, what has changed since ‘yesterday’s’ June 8th chart?  As always, we look to the t/Sun (somewhat), the t/Moon and t/PoF as the primary factors that reflect daily changes.  The angles, of course move forward a degree or so, and the inner planets may change quite a bit from time to time.  

In this chart n/PoF is on the Advancing Ascendant while t/PoF has crossed the Asc. on this day (as it moves at the same rate as the t/Moon minus t/Sun).  So we have a ‘doubled up’ PoF at the Ascendant.  Personally-felt experiences will dramatize her life on this day.  Since this is taking place on the Camino trail, a spiritual journey for Shirley, this may show up as a physical challenge to her safety as well as an inner journey which she is so fond of recounting.

t/Moon has conjoined with t/Sun a few hours earlier, so this is a ‘new Moon’ period for everyone.  Discovery and unfolding is in the wind.  This new Moon squares Shirley’s n/Vesta — we note that t/Vesta opposes t/Pluto in the first house.  t/moon-square-Vesta-11th; Vesta-11th indicates ‘more-than-one-world’ needs to receive the attention due it.  Normally, more-than-one-world would indicate many social and community circles could offer positive experiences.  In Shirley’s case, this day would also involve a past-life-world.  The square aspect to the Moon would be a challenge to fully immerse herself into that experience.  The 7th house t/Vesta suggests that every little detail or nuance of an experience with another has to be considered.  The opposition to t/Pluto suggests a long-dead component is part of the equation.  

The t/Sun squares n/Venus.  t/Sun typically represents one’s own will, intent and conscious focus.  With n/Sun still close to the Desc. angle, we could see that TWO Sun’s need to be considered.  This most typically represents two people, two wills or opinions or viewpoints.  t/Sun-square-n/Venus can indicate a conflict over values and one’s feelings about a relationship.  n/Sun-n/Mars has been, for Shirley, an urge to push herself forward, to be noticed, to succeed.  Before I comment on this, let us see how this daily story played out for her on this June 9th, 1994.

The two Irish girls had appointed themselves as Shirley’s protectors.  They walked ahead and told the photographers and news people that Shirley had gone on ahead of them, leaving before dawn, or had gone back to pray at a church on the other side of town.  Moon and Saturn relate to ‘protectiveness.’  Both n/tSaturn are in the 4th house of comfort and securiity.  Noting her picture in the local newspapers, Shirley purchased a new hat to change her appearance.  Shirley observed the different people who walked the trail that day, wondering about the private stories each was carrying.  At one point, she found a tree off of the trail, and layed down to take a nap.  Her dreams started immediately, taking her back to a past life.  Note that t/Neptune-t/Uranus are in the 3rd house of thoughts and ideas.  They oppose t/Venus-n/Pluto — planetary characters we have already discussed.  We can view t/Venus-n/Pluto as representing a ‘dead love’ or a love-relationship that is about to be resurrected and/or changed.  

So, we have the “set up” for another of Shirley’s inner adventures.  Because of its length, I’ll continue it in the next posting.  Dave.

Part 8: Walking Alone

In the last post I explored the chart’s portrayal of Shirley’s prior-life flashbacks and recall.  It was all mental, all in her head.  That day’s journey along the Camino trail was uneventful except for the rain and her becoming lost, retracing her steps.  This posting, Part 8, is another day which seems empty except for her hike along the trail — but, she again does a lot of thinking.

So, again I will be just going through the chart to see what correlates with her thoughts.  In doing this, I am attempting to demonstrate this charting method for following life day-by-day — will it also show her thoughts and feeling when there are no events or situations in play?

Shirley set out for Puerto La Reina after an abrupt good-bye to Anna.  Anna had planned on only walking with Shirley for the first few days, to help her get into the rhythm of the Camino.  I will post the Advanced chart for June 8, 1994 below.  As I recount her days events, I will also comment on the chart (in black) as I try to match the symbolism to her actions and her thoughts.

Shirley immediately felt alone.  n/N.Node at the IC; “who and how we meet others and what we can gain from them” is in the new starts part of the chart — the IC.  “Lonely” is also indicated by Saturn; here, t/Saturn is in the 4th, conjoining n/MC. She was walking by herself, trying to find the Camino trail through the heart of the town.  Up ahead she spotted two girls with backpacks decorated by the scallop shell symbol of the Camino trail.  She followed them.  “Guides” are indicated by Jupiter.  t/Jupiter is on the Asc. — exact. 

Now, on the right path, Shirley decided to make an international call to an old friend whose husband had just died, and who was on a near-term path to her own demise.  The call was brief, her friend telling her that her time was almost here, and that Shirley should continue and finish the Camino for her.  She would be with her in spirit.  The call ended.  Shirley knew that she would not have a chance to speak with her friend again.  More loneliness.

Shirley passed the Church of Santa Domingo, decorated with Scallop shells.  As she continued her walk she was amazed to see the extent of the trash that littered the street.  She wondered how people could litter the land that was so sacred, so historical.  People threw everything away.  How much did a person need?  This was the primary thought she dwelled upon.  People were defined by their possessions. Venus and the sign of Taurus are equated to ‘possessions.’  n/Venus conjoins n/MC at the 5th house cusp.  t/Venus conjoins n/Pluto in the 9th.   Taurus is the ruler of the 7th house — other people and their possessions.  I don’t thin we can simply leave these correlations here.  These were Shirley’s thoughts.  That would be signified by t/Mercury-n/Asc. on the cusp of the 9th house of foreign travel.  So, now it comes together.  If I were just glancing at this chart I am not sure all of that would come together for me.  Even knowing the context of her environment this day.  Maybe I am just not self-disciplined enough in my chart reading.

Later that day Shirley realized that the girls ahead of her, from Ireland, had seen and recognized her.  That was disturbing to Shirley.  Then, she noticed others making eye contact with her and smiling.  She was a celebrity, something she had hoped to hide.  Others did not typically act like themselves when they knew she was present.  Sun and Jupiter can represent ‘celebrity.’  t/Jupiter is exactly on the chart’s Ascendant along with n/PoF, front-and-center.  n/Jupiter is in the 12th, trying to hide.   t/Sun is in the 8th, square n/Venus; dealing with admirers.  n/Sun is on the Descendant, in full view of everyone else.  How does one hide in plain sight?

That evening as the Irish girls sang, and the other pilgrims joined in, Shirley sat quietly, observing.  She was a trained singer and performer, she know that if she joined in the others would go quiet — she would be intruding.  Being a celebrity was uncomfortable for her in the Camino setting.

So, this is the end of today’s experiment in using this type of charting which is excellent for portraying events and situations, and “change” as it intrudes on the direction of daily life.  I think we demonstrated that the symbolism expressing thoughts and feelings is evident in this chart — yet, I can’t but feel that perhaps another type of charting method might more clearly reflect thoughts and feelings.  I will have to experiment with — perhaps — t/Moon to the midpoint of t/Venus and t/Mercury, or something like that.  Be prepared, my friends for some crazy chart explorations.  Dave.

Part 7:

Shirley and Anna made an early start on this day, June 7, 1994.  They were headed for Pamplona, a substantial city in terms of size and historical sites.  A photo is shown at the left.  As Shirley briskly walked along the trail, villages and old churches that were active long ago seemed to tug at her for attention.   In this very area Charlemagne’s 20,000 strong army had battled 50,000 Moorish Saracens.  An ambush had been set up, and Charlemagne’s troops had been devastated.   All of this and more related thoughts were in Shirley’s mind as she trekked through the sunshine.

In her many books and interviews, it became apparent that Shirley experienced many ‘past life’ scenes.  She was familiar with places she traveled to for the ‘first time’ and instinctively knew what was there, where the roads led to before she actually traveled there.  She was reluctant to associate these ‘knowings’ with reincarnation, but she knew that she had seen places before in another time.  So, her travels along the Camino trail were very interesting to her.  As she walked along she asked herself, “Why had I come here?”  Immediately the image of a coffee-skinned black-haired girl came to mind. This was a familiar figure from other dreams she had.  This dream-girl was Moorish, she had the gift of healing with her hands.  The traveled the Camino on horseback, healing the sick.

Before continuing this story, let us look at Shirley’s advanced chart for this day, June 7, 1994.  We will examine the chart to see what it says in general terms, then we will look at it again to see if it relates to the story which follows.

My first impression is that this chart doesn’t reflect much in the way of significant events or feelings.  Let us first look at the angles.  1)  The nodal axis lies along the horizontal axis; t/N.Node near the Asc.  Today and in the next few days she would be meeting many people that were important to her being able to understand her trip along the Camino way.  2)  The natal Nodal Axis is almost square to the transiting Nodal Axis.  Will she she have to face people in some way to gain understanding of her travels?  The n/N.Node is in the 3rd house of communicating and sharing.

3)  n/Saturn is near the IC angle while t/Saturn is ahead of the IC and in the 4th house, approaching n/Venus.  We can see this as having past-future connotations, and leave it at that until we discern more in the chart.  4)  Near the MC we find t/Chiron-n/Moon in Virgo, square n/Chiron in Gemini.  Whenever the same planet in its transiting and natal versions find itself in a hard aspect, I have to ask why is there a battle or challenge here?  If past hurts of some kind are involved, are we to reconcile them, rework them in our mind so as to put them to rest.  What are we so sensitive to that we can let a ‘past’ incident warp our present experience?  Again, we will have to put this aside in terms of how it relates to traveling the trail.

When angular examination ends, I shift my attention to the t/Sun, t/Moon, t/PoF.  5) t/Sun squares n/MC; old goals need to be thought about and reconsidered.  The square to n/Venus suggests past loves and friendship also need evaluation.  6) We need to note t/Moon hitting upon n/Chiron; stirring up past feelings of hurt or injustice.  This t/Moon also opposes the n/Asc. (relocated to this Camino area).  So, Shirley’s feeling at this time are very deep and personal.  7)  t/PoF is opposite n/Uranus; inner cognition demands attention and offers challenges.  This t/PoF also squares t/Uranus, so this whole sudden cognition issues is hieghtened.

Unless this day, June 7, 1994 has actual events happening on the trail, it would seem that Shirley inner thoughts will form the major experience of this day.

While walking the trail, deep in her thoughts, a passing truck actually brushed her backpack, jolting her out of her thoughts.  (Uranus in operation here?)   Other than that, Shirley and Anna reached Pamplona, found a refugio in a church basement.  That night, Shirley had nightmares.  At this point I will return to the memory-story Shirley was having as the dark-skinned Moorish girl.

She (the Moorish girl) was called into the presence of ‘The Giant Moor.’  He had a problem, and was unable to satisfy his several wives.  He was very distraught over this impotency.  She sat before him and looked into his eyes.  Their mutual gaze never faulted.  She slowly stroked his face, neck and shoulders.  Then, using oils that she carried with her, she started stroking his whole body.  After some time, he became aroused.  The attendants left them, and nature took its course.  After being healed, the Moor would not let her go.  She protested that her work was to serve those along the trail.  He wad not impressed and her put in chains.

We can return to the chart to see how it reflected this very deep recollection.  Points 1 and 2 note the need to deal with other people, perhaps a confrontation.  That was true in her recall of the Moorish girl.  Point 3 relates to dealing with one she was attracted to in the past.  Earlier she had meet a charming young man and had decided not pursue a one-night fling with him.  Were this past and present situations related in some way.  Point 4 notes the Chiron connections and past hurts.  I don’t think this days recounter of the dark girl from the past is the last that we will hear of her.  Point 5 relates to the Sun, MC and Venus.  That seems to be in play here.  I am drawing the reader’s attention to this dream because it fits into other dreams, recalls and one amazing ‘proof-of-a-past-life’ event that we will come upon in a later posting.

It seems that this chart reflects the day’s outer events to the minor extend they existed.  The thoughts and mind-wandering of Shirley seem also related to this day’s chart.  I can only use the material found in a few pages of her book, Camino, that are devoted to this day.  So, the context that can support this reading is limited.  The fact that she spent much of her writing for this date on the dark Moorish girl makes it significant.  It is only later in the book that we find more context for Shirley’s recall of a past life on the Camino.
