Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt: It’s About Time

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie have been a couple for many generations, it seems.  Last Saturday, August 23, 2014, they were married in Correns, France.  In attendance were their family, each of whom played a role in the marriage ceremony.  They had taken out a license in California and had flown the officiating person to the wedding site so that it would be a legal U.S.-California marriage.  Unfortunately WordPress will not upload and display my photos (taken from Google images), so lets hope the charts display well.  

I will be using t/Moon-to-n/Sun Cycle charts for Angelina.  I could have chosen t/Moon-to-n/Venus as a charting basis but they had been a couple for so long that I considered the Venus–love symbolism to be less likely to present an interesting chart.  However, I will be checking that out.  Angelina’s charts have been located to a major town near the wedding site.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This t/Moon-to-n/Sun Cyclic chart occurred on August 19, four days earlier than the marriage date.  This is a 12th house pattern, reflecting the hidden or private nature of their marriage site.  This was a private wedding, although there were guests.  Note t/Neptune on the MC angle; the fairy-tale planet at Angelina’s life-status-image angle.  Very appropriate for a marriage.  t/PoF and t/Uranus conjoins n/Moon-n/Jupiter;  Change come through a big/significant public event among a friendly community (11th house). Uranus brings out the surprise and uniqueness of the event.  We can take note of n/Uranus at the n/Asc as a doubled up pattern; Angelina is her own unique person.  Looking at the n/PoF conjoining t/Mercury in the 3rd house; we can associate this pattern with children and younger people being involved.

The August 23rd Advanced chart’s MC is now conjoining t/Neptune and squaring t/PoF; The fairytale event does change everything.  t/Moon touches upon n/Venus on this date; Angelina is in a loving mood, having planned and making this date and event a very special, family-oriented occasion. n/PoF at the MC points to the change and new start in the family structure as Brad and Angelina solidify the family structure.

I also note t/Mars-t/Saturn square t/Venus-n/MC.  Although not angular and a part of the primary story for this date, this pattern is disturbing.  It suggests a fight over the wedding location or arrangements or public visibility.  We may not hear about this pattern.  If anyone hears of this matter, please leave a comment for the rest of us.  Dave

Texas Governor Rick Perry Has An “OOPS” Moment on National TV

 

Rick Perry was known in Texas, having succeeded George Bush (who was moving to Washington, DC).  He was not that well known nationally.  Perry entered the 2011 rush to become the Republican nominee for President to succeed Bush who was leaving after completing two terms in office.  The large number of wanna-be’s participating in each of the many pre-nomination debates made it difficult to stand out from the others.  It was, objectively, seen as a “silly season” for debates.  Each candidate was staking out ‘right-wing’ areas of political extremism, seeking to appeal to those who came out to vote in the state’s various primary elections.  The more-balanced moderates of the party would vote in the actual election — a more balanced view would need to be presented for that national election.

Perry, in one of his few opportunities to lead the discussion when his turn arrived, noted that he wanted to streamline government, a core Republican policy claim that never seems to be actualized.  He would eliminate three secretarial-level departments of the U.S. government.  Three.  He could only remember two of the three.  General laughter followed, every news cast on every sTV and radio tation repeated Perry’s great OOPS moment.  A short time later, with poor showings in the polls, Perry began to fade from national view.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Perry’s precession corrected Tropical (Sidereal equivalent) 2011 Solar Return finds the Sun in the third house; a relatively weak position as it is no near an angle.  This SR is a “new moon” chart, suggesting that he will jump into life seeking opportunities where he can find them.  The n/Ascendant is near the Descendant angle; Perry does want to engage others, to speak and act for them.  t/Pluto opposes this n/Asc. from the 12th house side of the SR Ascendant.  One may see this as a manipulative pattern or as an isolating pattern contributing to a weak Solar Return.  There is nothing more to say.  The progressed daily angles chart for Nov. 9, 2011, the debate date and the “opps” moment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On this date, t/Sun is near the Ascendant angle; this is a time to seek leadership. n/Mercury and t/Neptune are at the IC angle; one will speak of fundamental issues that represents a vision.  (That’s a concise statement that fits the context of this debate opportunity).  t/Mars is on the 9th house side of the MC, not very close, but perhaps close enough to encourage speaking out, staking a position in a debate (the 9th house is a mental house).  These few factors are all that can be considered in terms of indicating what this day brings to Rick Perry.

Solar Returns and Progressed Daily Angle charts often present the astrologer with only a few factors to be considered.  Especially in weak charts.  We need to know of the context of the subject’s life in order to fit the chart to the life.  By following the life pattern of the subject and then using the chart to fit the life, we can look ahead to see what planets and angles will be active on what dates.  When significant events, experiences are to happen, the chart will clearly show the opportunities.

I have recently acquired the third edition of Cyril Fagan’s and Brigadier Firebrace’s Primer of Sidereal Astrology.  For many years (decades) I have used the first edition.  The newer edition has a lot of material added to it, taken direct from Fagan’s other writings.  This material is highly useful and should have been placed in the original book.  The typeface has been cleaned up, making the book highly readable. Rick Perry In The Middle of Texas Politics

Texas is a state unlike most others.  Governors can stay in office as long as they can get elected; most states limit office to two consecutive terms.  Perry was a candidate for U.S. President in 2012 but dropped out due to a debate blunder.  Now he will be leaving office and is expected to again seek his party’s nomination.  Meanwhile, he has run into a small problem.  A local District Attourney was convicted of drunk driving.  Perry didn’t like that and tried to coerce her out of office.  When she wouldn’t leave he threatened to cut of financial funding for her office.  These two acts together are very illegal.  Charges were brought against him, a grand jury recommended that the case go to trial.  This was all Republican officials that pressed this.  No Democrats were involved.  So, his own party is out to ‘get him.’   The last time he came to national attention we did not have a birth time for him.  Now we do.  His precession corrected Solar Return for 2014 is shown below.

The above chart, Perry’s p.c. Solar Return for 2014 has two angles populated.  t/Mars, t/N.Node at the Ascendant;  Attacks of some kind(t/Mars) from associates (N.Node) will be experienced (Asc.).  The initial assessment is just that easy — a few keywords spells out the primary focus for the year.  Now, add the second angular component, t/Venus at the IC, close to n/Venus in the 4th; nuancing this for a polictical situation, support and money (Venus) and what he desires or values (Venus) will take on a new meaning and initiate a new phase in his life (IC and the 4th house).  The “doubled up” Venus’ make this last statement important.  

NOTE that n/Mars opposes n/N.Node and t/Uranus.  This nMars-nN.Node mirrors the Ascendant pattern and gives it great emphasis.  The involvement of t/Uranus is interesting as Rex Bill’s Rulership book notes that Uranus denotes “accusations” — another word for ‘indictment” which would come in August.   Aren/t Solar Returns fun to look at.  And, so simple to understand.  What we have talked about is all that needs to be talked of.  No elaborate exploration of other chart factors is needed BECAUSE we can advance the angles on a daily basis to uncover the rest of the story within the context of his life.

Perry’s Aug 15, 2014 Progressed Daily Angles chart is shown below.

The MC angle has advanced some 200 degrees since early March, some 160ish days ago, which averages out to 1.25 degrees per day (the normal rate of advance as the MC progresses 450 degrees per year).  What do we see in this chart?  The natal MC and Asc. have returned close to the day’s angles, but are 8 and 9 degrees into the angular houses.  When natal angles are reestablished in a cyclic chart, that date/period becomes a time of momentous choice.  Life changes.  In this case the angles will not conjoin for another week or so, so we can expect more news on the 21st to 23rd in this matter.

The vertical axis is populated by n/N.Noce at the IC and n/Jupiter at the MC; Since these are natal factors and not transiting factors we can presume that Perry will be rallying support and legal services (Jupiter)  and support from long-standing associates (natal N.Node) to meet this career challenge (the vertical axis).

The nature of interpreting these p.c. Solar Returns and daily charts is quite different from the usage of Moon-to-Sun Returns.  There is typically less planetary interchange to interpret as only the angles are used for the primary reading.  Yet, they are so clear and simple.  Dave

Kurt Cobain’s Death; If At First You Don’t Succeed . . .

Following his drug-alcohol induced coma in Rome several weeks earlier, Kurt returned from Europe to his home in Washington state, U.S.A.   Kurt was still dissatisfied with his music, with his song messages, with his ability to come up with the words that he wanted to express.  His fans had their expectations.  Nothing seemed to be in harmony.  His depression grew.  Early in April his body was found; he had died by use of a shotgun several days earlier.  The medical examiner estimated April 5th, 6th.

It is common for momentous events in one’s life to occur at the t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return. Kurt’s Moon-to-Sun Return occurred on April 6th.  The Return chart is shown below.

This is a t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return in the 6th house.  This house suggest problems that need to be confronted about how one functions in life.  Skills need to be developed.  One needs to know how one is to deal with the expectations of others.  Life adjustments are of concern and illness can develop due to strong unease over life in general.  Of great importance is the ‘doubled-up’ Plutos at the angles; t/Pluto at the IC, n/Pluto at the Asc.   For Kurt, n/Pluto at his Ascendant made this outer planet into a connection between himself and a greater social force.  He need to communicate to his generation for his generation — and he suddenly felt very inadequate in doing that.  Doubled-up Pluto symbols at the angles cannot be ignored.  They bring overwhelming pressures and need for change, change that one just has to be part of.

t/Saturn at the Descendant seemed to amplify the self-seen burdens that he was carrying.  He had not yet reached his first Saturn Return point.  t/Mercury and t/Mars were approaching that n/Saturn; his thoughts and self-anger were apparently engaged in assessing his place in the music world and his frustration in being able to define that place.  Note that n/Mars was in square aspect to n/Part of Fortune; reckless actions, unthinking actions.  Was it likely that Kurt was toying with the idea of blowing his head off when he inadvertently did just that?  t/PoF is square to t/Sun; Circumstances can change or alter (PoF) one’s intentions (Sun).  Was there something else in Kurt’s life that contributed to this event?  I can’t say as there isn’t enough details available to correlate with many of the chart’s factors.  Perhaps a reader can suggest something.

Nirvana; Almost In Reach for Kurt Cobain

When in Rome, do as the Roman’s do.  So, who has heard of Romans taking tranquilizers and drinking champagne as a typical practice?  It seems that rock stars do dumb things such as that.  Cobain did so and ended up in a hospital suffering from a comatose condition.  As it turned out, this was a precursor to events a couple of months later when he returned to the United States.  We will now look at his t/Moon-opposite-n/Sun Return just prior to his hospitalization.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is a 12th to 6th house t/Moon-opp-n/Sun Return chart, a very difficult configuration.  Typically it offers choices between what one wants to do for oneself versus what one feels obligated to do for others.  Totally stressful in many cases.  What were his fans demanding, what did he have left to give?  How was he going to keep creating his form of music while satisfying his own standards?  The natal chart is full of stress-signatures; the n/Pluto-n/Uranus conjunction (start of the cycle we currently see in the Pluto square Uranus pattern of 2014).  n/Mars conjoining n/MC is another stress pattern. When you also have n/Venus-n/Saturn conjoined and opposite n/Pluto-n/Uranus it may be very hard to feel really loved and appreciated rather than feeling victimized by society. 

t/Sun at the Descendant highlights this personal sensitivity to how one is received by others.  Cobain is undergoing a big disconnect from his fans.  Let us now look at the day of his entering a comatose state due to the mixture of drugs and alcohol.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In this chart we find t/Sun more closely conjoining the Descendant angle, highlighting the disconnect he was feeling between his work-product and the fans he was trying to please.  This t/Sun squares t/Moon at the IC and t/PoF at the MC angles; Cobains whole sense of life-balance (the essence of Moon-to-Sun Returns) is being subjected to ‘chance and change’ (t/Part of Fortune).   Meanwhile t/Venus has come up to conjoin n/Venus-n/Saturn in the 7th house; a desperate seeking of bonding with others.  This is happening when t/Saturn has conjoined his n/Sun position; a time of taking stock of one’s identity, intentions and life-plan.

In Cobain’s case, the t/Pluto-t/N.Node combination in the 3rd was a common social experience of de-socializing and reconstructing relationships which he could not connect with.  He was a loner in his own mind.

Nirvanah; A 1990’s Musical Comet of Short Duration & Long Influence

Kurt Cobain, born in the turmoil of 1967, created his own turmoil in the music world of the early 1990’s.   Nirvana was his band and his tool for touching his generation.  Their three albums influenced the music world of rock, punk and dark concepts.  Cobain was born on Feb. 20, 1967 at 7:20 PM in Aberdeen, WA.  I will use this place to locate charts for this post unless otherwise noted.  As a child he was hyperactive.  At age 8 his parents split up. He dropped out of high school,  having two art scholarships that could have been taken advantage of.  Why?

At his 14th birthday he received a used guitar from an Uncle.  He taught himself to play and organized a band.  The gradual success that he felt led him to abandon school and seek a life in the world of music.  Let us look at his natal chart.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The first pattern of note in his natal chart is Uranus, Pluto at the Ascendant.  The most asked question about the outer planets relates to their “generational” nature and how it fits into the natal chart.  The Ascendant shows how we act within and experience life.  Uranus and Pluto, both outer planets, have Cobain as a personal tool to express themselves through.  Chaos, revolution, irrevocable change.  Now, how would one person find a way to bring these qualities into his world?  Via the rock music of his generation, music that would set a different tone and change the music of others, a “sound” of strong impact.  Mercury at the Desc. opposes Uranus-Pluto; Cobain would give “voice” to the new breakdown of social practices, to the new “new.”  Venus-conjunct-Saturn in the 7th house indicates some form of structured harmony, a rigid product with the right balance.  Cobain’s Moon-to-Sun phase relationship is approaching the analyst phase (135 to 180 degrees ahead of Moon to the Sun; Skills need to be honed, adjustments made in one’s capabilities to reach out or to support others.  The only other pattern to note is Part of Fortune (PoF) squaring Mars; one is prone to take risks, to challenge the norm.

The below t/Moon-opposite-n/Sun Return chart, 12th to 6th houses, is dated two days prior to his birthday.  The theme of 12-to-6 house charts relates to how one chooses to prioritize what they need for themselves versus what they can do for others.  At age 14 this becomes a moot point, it is all about him.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Note that this chart date is two days before his birthday, as evidenced by the two Suns in the chart.  The n/Mars square n/PoF pattern now appears as t/PoF-conjoining-t/Mars at the Desc.; Cobain’s natural inclination to take a risk and excitement is emphasized here by another (the Uncle) symbolized by the Descendant angle.

t/Uranus is at the IC angle, an exciting new phase of life begins.   This Uranus squares the Moon-opposite-Sun pattern.  The ‘balance of life’ is shifting quickly.  Lets look at the 19th, the evening of his birthday when he might have been given his guitar instead of the next day which was his birthday (the 20th).  The 19th chart is more interesting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So, what has changed in one day?  t/PoF conjoins n/Mercury, t/Mercury squares n/Neptune;  One identifies with what is new, what is possible, what represents change. The drama of an imagined artistry gives young Cobain a new direction for his life. This ‘doubled up’ Mercury sets the interpretive mood for this chart.  t/Moon comes along and triggers the n/Pluto-n/Asc.-n/Uranus pattern; This is how he will change his world.  t/Moon also squares the MC; will his dreams, his goal be able to be seized?

These charts are not earth-shaking charts.  They merely reflect the situation at hand.  A 14 year old with ideas of his own, who doesn’t believe his life should continue in school, makes a big decision based upon a gift that opens doors for his personal expression.

By coming to understand this chart, this bad-boy of the 1990s has his own exciting and tragic story to share.  Dave.
