O.J. Simpson chart 01F

Prediction: O.J. Simpson chart 01F

O.J. Simpson Trial Ends, Found Guilty, Sentenced

After a trial lasting 2 1/2 months, Simpson was found guilty.  The chart below is for that date in December, the 5th, 2008.

O.J. Simpson found Guilty of Robbery and Kidnapping

O.J. Simpson found Guilty of Robbery and Kidnapping

As with the other charts in this series, this chart has several interesting points.  For instance, the MC of this daily chart is also the mid-point of the natal chart’s MC and Ascendant, Simpson’s “Here and Now” point.  This is a time when Simpson has to learn a cosmic lesson.  The Ascendant degree is the MC position of the 2007 Solar Return chart just prior to the robbery.  Simpson has to face (Ascendant) the life decisions (MC) he made that year.  Simpson’s arrogance in dealing with others led him to take matters into his own hands and to initiate the robbery in a Las Vegas hotel in order to retrieve his property.  He neglected to go through the courts and to work with the police.  As a result, the robbery turned out badley, Simpson go caught, and this trial resulted.

Simpson embarked upon this trial with the view and belief that the court would excuse hime for his actions because he was trying to recover his own property.  Even though his lawyer wished to pursue another line of defense, Simpson stuck to his story.  We note natal Neptune at the Asc. of this chart; his own line of thought, his illusions of being right led him into his downfall.  Transiting Pluto is approaching the IC, opposite the natal Venus; control over his property is lost, ended.

A Note about Working with these Precession-Corrected Charts:

When working with these types of charts, the chart will often have only a few indicators that need to be paid attention to—as does this chart.  We have natal Neptune at the Ascendant, natal Venus opposite transiting Pluto along the MC-IC axis.  While these are the only astrological factors of the chart, we need to remember that we also have “Context” — context of the natal chart, context of the robbery, arrest, and trial.  We are always working with the meaning of the natal chart, we have the solar return to show the theme of the year, and we have the daily chart to show us what is happening.  We veiw all of this within the flow of time, within the circumstances that have evolved.

So, within the context of what has happened, within the flow of experiences shown by the other charts in this series, this chart talks to us of disillustion (natal Neptune), of the loss of what one values (transiting Pluto opposing natal Venus) and that fact’s impact upon his status (MC and IC axis).

One other note; the role of the angles of prior charts is something to always look for.  In this case, the Solar Return’s MC position is again picked up here at the charts Asc. angle.  Dave

Example Chart 01E: O.J. Simpson

Prediction Example: Chart 01E, O.J. Simpson–the start of his trial on Sept. 8, 2008

  • The progressed daily angles chart and analysis
  • Comments on the nature of this predictive system

The progressed daily angles chart and analysis O.J. Simpson’s trial for the the hotel room robbery almost a year earlier had been scheduled for April 7th but had been delayed.  The chart below is the progressed daily angles chart for the start of the actual trial, the MC having been progressed forward about 1.25 degrees per day from the July 9th, 2008 Solar Return chart.

Progressed Daily Angles chart for the start of O.J. Simpson's trial.

Again, let me reiterate the processes for evaluating precession corrected charts.  Angular planets are of utmost importance, natal or solar return or transit are all taken into consideration.  Natal planets, and the aspect patterns held in the natal chart, tend to repeat or to re-express themselves in similar ways when/if they are angular in solar return or daily angles charts— although other planets that are recombined with them (solar return or transiting) will modify the natal expression in many cases.  The closer the aspects (conjunctions, oppositions, squares or paran-squares ((adjacent angles without regard to degree values)) are the angles we typically use) the more pronounced the event or experience.

In this chart there are several notable features.  Natal Sun is near the Ascendant; Sun often denotes legal authorities being involved or superior’s in ones work or areas of endeavor.  Transiting Sun is closing in on the IC angle; Simpson’s status and life’s direction is about to take on a new direction. Transiting Jupiter is at the Descendant; Jupiter also has connections to courts and legal issues.  The natal Jupiter is at the natal IC, broadly square natal Pluto–these components have been linked to success or the striving for success but we would assess this natal pattern as representing the need to fight one’s way towards gains and respect (Jupiter at the IC) while struggeling to exercise power and control over those forces that held him back (Pluto in the natal 12th) from achieving his goals (MC).

Natal Moon is at this charts/dates MC angle; public noteriety and attention.  The natal square to Uranus imparted a nervousness and striving to be seen as unique and special.  Simpson seemed to feel his individualism wasn’t recognized and he made it a life’s ambition to achieve fame.  With this position of significance we are obliged to look at the role of the transiting Moon.  We must always keep in mind this associative linkage between natal, solar and transiting planets. Transiting Moon is both conjunct transiting Pluto and approaching the Descendant, even though it is still 12 degrees from that angle.   Taking this Moon/Pluto pair as being in the 12th house of how others deal with us (behind the Desc. angle), this pair brings the two natal patterns (Jupiter-MC-Pluto and Moon-Uranus) into a joint operation.  His striving to be recognized, his striving to gain respect and to control his life has all come to the fore.  He will strive to make his case that he was regaining his honor, his property, and was within his rights to deny others their profit from his property.

Now, we need to pay a bit of attention to another aspect of this chart:  The MC sign/degree position is the Ascendant sign/degree position of the daily angles chart for the robbery. Clearly the actions then (Ascendant) are the subject or goal (MC) of this trial.

Comments on the nature of this predictive system It is not uncommon for the flow of time to restate one chart within another chart by bringing forward common angles-sign/degree points.  There is a rhythm to our actions and lives, and the events of one day are linked to the events of certain other days.  Indeed, half of the predictive process of this “system” that I am presenting here is based on identifying the dates when these repetitive cycles will occur.  When we get to the next chart for the conclusion of Simpson’s trial we will see more of these angular realignments.

I am laying out these charts, a natal chart, solar return charts, and progressed daily angles charts for several purposes.  In no specific order, I offer these observations:

  • If you use the Tropical Zodiac, by all means follow these charts and the utilization of the precession correction factor.  This is the only way to make your solar returns work!  And, it is the only way in which you can use progressed daily angles charts.  You can read all of the conventional solar return books and follow all of their offered rules, but your charts will always be complex to understand, misleading, and will lack the simple clarity of these precession corrected charts.
  • The angles of precession corrected solar return and daily charts is the key so easily and clearly determining the nature of the chart.  We are dealing only with planetary meanings here; the natal chart planet and its pattern links to other planets, the solar return chart’s angular planets, the daily angles chart’s angular planets.  Everything else is not of any great importance.  How much easier can it be.  The angles filter out what is not important.
  • The nature of the planets are well known.  They represent all we really need to know with the exception of the meanings of the angles and the meanings of the natal houses.  I would recommend the purchase and use of Ebertin’s “Combination of Stellar Influences” as the most indispensable (and most popular astrology book ever) book on planet meanings that one can have.
  • Once the next chart is presented, I will use this series of charts to discuss the methods used in this series so that others can also follow this simple but highly effective method.

Tarot Spreads 03

Tarot Spreads 03; the Horoscope Spread

This Horoscope Spread will appear to be familiar to many capable-level tarot readers.  However, the way this spread is used by a Tarot Reader and by an Astrologer/Tarot Reader is another issue. Please follow the diagrams below.

Horoscope Spread-JThe left-hand diagram defines the spread layout and card positions.  The numbered positions correspond to the astrological chart’s house positions: 1) Ones personal & daily experiences, 2) one’s property and desire-objectives, 3) travel and communication issues, 4) home and family life and core values, also a point of change, 5) children, speculation, entertainment factors, 6) work and making life adjustments, 7) relationships and how we project ourselves onto others, 8) issues that are unequally shared or expected, 9) greater perspective, learning, distant travel, 10) personal reputation and public goals, 11) what one is working towards, future, friends, resources of others who support you, 12) hidden agendas, making sacrifices, preparing to be changed.

The right-hand diagram illustrates some of the basic astrological tools that canbe  applied to this spread with great effect.   In positions 3 and 6 we see two Wand cards; these are interpreted as being in a “square” aspect —- stressful and challenging.  Any two suit cards or numbered cards having this “square aspect (3 positions apart) can be judged as conflicting with each other.  When we have two cards such as positions 3 and 9; these can be considered as being in an “opposition” aspect —- they need to be recognized as likely being opposed to each other or needing to be brought into balance.   When we find two cards being in opposition, and both in square aspect to a third position such as the three Wand cards shown, this is considered to be a “T-Square” aspect. By representing a combination of conflict, stress and opposition this card relationship is not really a dire pattern but is instead a DRIVING FORCE to overcome these characteristics.  The spread may be the most positive and powerful pattern in the spread.

The two cards in positions 10 and 11 are both “6” cards, the six of swords and six of pentacles. Being adjacent to each other we can view them as an astrological conjunction, a blending and strengthening of forces and meaning —- their intrinsic symbol-nature will be brought together.  Let us now turn our attention to the cards in positions 2 and 10, these are same-suit cards, both Swords.  We can treat these, being four position apart, as a trine aspect —- a relationship that brings an ease of expression, sometimes each will alternate, sometimes they will blend in a way that allows each to express themselves without causing conflicts.

It makes no difference whether we are considering suites or numbers when using these astrological aspect factors.

The Nature of the Horoscope Spread

As is always the case, our INTENT about how to use the spread and what the card position meanings are is very important.  When using this spread, I tend to consider it as a “present life” review spread.  Others might choose to use a Tree of Life spread which requires its own deeper understanding of other traditions, but I use the Horoscope Spread instead.

Later, in another posting, I will be presenting the Horoscope Spread as a “time line” spread for addressing questions of  “How Will This Issue Work Out Over Time?” or “What Will Happen Next?” This spread version looks similar but is laid out differently and has differing rules.

Doing a reading with this spread

If anyone wishes to have a tarot reading with this spread, please contact me.  If several ask, I will pick the request that appears to have the most interesting situation that will fit this spread. Or, if it is a question involving time and future developments, I may save the request for that later posting.  And, in any case, the offer to do Astro-Tarot readings still stands.  Dave

Example Chart 01D: O.J. Simpson

Prediction; Example 01D for O.J. Simpson’s 2008 Solar Return prior to his trial.

O.J. Simpson's 2008 Solar Return (p.c.) chart

O.J. Simpson's 2008 Solar Return (p.c.) chart

This precession-corrected Solar Return chart shows Sun/Sun in the 4th house, 7 degrees from the IC, signifying changing circumstances, the adoption of new values, making a new life.  Natal Sun is in the 11th; one is always seeking a “new life” and a different future–this year he will get what he has always sought.  Transiting Jupiter opposes Sun from the 10th house area; Simpson expects much from others and has high hopes.  One might also say that Jupiter represents legal processes from an objective view point, but angular transiting Sun has also been shown to have legal impositions suggested.  Natal Jupiter was at the IC angle, so his social values and expectations will be “reversed” or restated in this annual chart.  These two angular bodies make up the core meaning of the chart.

We might also look at transiting Moon, conjuncting natal Neptune from near the Descendant angle.  Natal Moon was in Simpson’s 8th house; the house of unequal sharing.  Moon  squared  natal Uranus in the 11th;  expectations of what his friends contribute to his life tend to cause anxiety and upsets.  Or, to put it another way, why don’t they focus more on him?  We can see that transiting Uranus is approaching natal Moon, reinforcing this ingrained pattern.  The part that doesn’t visually fit in this chart is natal Neptune being conjuncted by solar return Moon.  When we find “parts” that don’t seem to fit into the “whole”, we need to stop and really look at those factors. Transiting Neptune conjuncts the transiting N.Node;  Unrealistic associations may be part of this message; Simpson had attempted to retrieve (via breakin and robbery) his property which represented needed cash-value to him.  Or, we might say his associates decieved him–this is how Simpson saw the situation.  All in all, there certainly was a lack of clarity and judgement in these circumstances.

What might we have said to Simpson, as a client, about this chart?

This year will represent a time of fundamental change for you.  Given last year’s escapade in which you attempted to retrieve your property, you need to take a highly realistic view of the upcoming trial and refrain from your subjective view of why those events occured.  You need to follow the objective advice of those who legally represent you.  The opposition of Sun/Jupiter in this chart begs for separation of your personal views and legal views.  Given the reasons for your attempt to recover your property, and the factors that suggest a lack of clarity in this chart, you should give your legal representatives the choices of how to make your case; your views and emotional factors involved in your mishap will not be seen within the legal system  in the same way you see them.

In any case, a change of circumstances is highly likely this year.  Your goal should be to mitigate and shape the changes that will be imposed, not to expect to totally circumvent them.

Additional comments

This form of chart reading, concentrating only on the solar return angular planets and their associated natal chart factors insures that we bring the life-long natal chart meanings in our life into our present circumstances —- and then we modify these views thru the transiting planets. Dave

Tarot Deck Desk Display

Table display of favorite tarot decks

Table display of favorite tarot decks

Above is the Waite-Smith Magician, front and back views, serving as “book ends” for a collection of often-used Tarot Cards.  The Magician stands at one end, wand raised high while standing in the garden of white lillys and red roses.  At the other end, his table and tools of his trade are shown; the upright staff/wand at the right of the table, the cup, sword and pentacle resting on the table.

While most of my reading are done via the Internet, I do some public and private readings.  At these times I have my reading decks displayed, a code of ethics (in a clear upright photo frame decorated with miniature tarot cards), and a Readings & Rate display — all of this completes the reading table accessories.   A small business card holder, embellished with a Tarot Motif (also hand carved) and a brochure display is placed elsewhere.  At a later time, I’ll share images of these items as well.

My belief is that a Tarot Reader has to set himself/herself apart from the others, particularly when reading at book stores, libraries, and fairs.  Dressing neatly and portraying the business accessories noted above shows that you are committed to doing well and taking yourself seriously.   While many approach Tarot Reading as a lighthearted pastime, setting the proper mood permits  the Reader to take charge while guiding the Querent (customer) into an attitude of being able to be guided into and through the reading.  The Reader has “Intent” (which opens many doors into one’s abilities), “knowledge of the historical and specific deck card meanings” (which draws upon culturally shared images and feelings), and experience in relating and dialoging with others.  The Querent needs to be able to “suspend disbelief” of the card’s magical ability to portray useful information while being open to conversation.  All of this is facilitated by the presence of serious business accessories.

My question for each of you: How do you set the mood for your readings?  How do you dress for the occassion?  I have visited tarot readers who were women and who dressed in dress and accessories that were gypsy, pagan or eclectic in the nature — and who just “glowed” playing the part of a tarot reader.  Being an older male, and having a differing personality, I couldn’t carry that sort of dress or presentation off very well.  So, please share.  Dave
