On August 24, 2012 an announcement was made that Lance would be stripped of his medals and records — a life of difficult achievement tossed on the scrap heap. All based on events, records, accusations that were more than a decade ago and which were dismissed then. Poisoned thoughts and meanness are very persistent. We will continue the examination of the incident using Moon-to-Sun Return charts, a method of using cyclic charts to follow day-by-day events and happenings in a subjects life.
A reminder of just what a Moon-to-Sun Return chart is and how it differs from a conventional Lunar Return chart. A Lunar Return occurs when the transiting Moon comes to the same position as the natal Moon. Current changes in life and our response to them triggers our natal manner of dealing with change — an emotional reunion of sorts. The Lunar Return plots the month’s responses to current events relative to how our natal chart has demonstrated its developed way of dealing with change. A Moon-to-Sun Return portrays how current-happening events and situations impact our basic natal nature (Sun), our decision-making processes, our way of acting and managing life. We are looking at how “change” is experienced and dealt with. The other transits work with/against the transiting Moon and bring new approaches to how the natal chart is challenged on many levels.
There are a number of remarkable factors in this chart, this date that has turned Lance Armstrong’s life upside down. FIRST, we note the natal MC and Ascendant (in the outer ring) are closely matched to the Return chart’s (inner wheel) angles. This always indicates a total change in one’s life, a sort of rebirth event. Clearly this is the case here. Second, t/Sun at 2 Virgo opposes t/Neptune — one’s self interests are contested by Neptunian symbols such as drugs, deception, illusion, etc. This is what his accusers are doing. Third, t/Part of Fortune (t/PoF) conjoins t/Uranus; “chance and change” will occur suddenly. Fourth, t/Moon opposes n/Saturn; today’s changes have to contend with the past disciplines that Lance has engaged in –this is one way of using these symbols. If we look at t/Saturn’s position we find it near the Return chart’s MC. We can blend these two Saturn positions/symbols and see that the changes affecting his disciplined lifetime will be associated with his career and public stature. Another, final point, might be n/Neptune and n/Jupiter conjoining the t/Node; the charity work (Jupiter/Neptune) associations may be affected by this career battle.
As I have noted before, this form of Return chart appears to be quite superior to Lunar Returns. In the next few days I will look for a nice example of using conventional Lunar Returns and, perhaps, a progressing method such as that proposed by Robert Nicewander. We’ll see what develops. Dave
